Senior Presentation

PART I: Two-Hour Presentation
(1) Two-Hour Presentation Student Assessment

P

Why?
I think i met all of the requirements necessary for the consideration of a P. I had everything turned in on time met the talking time and finished all of my presentation. i think that therefore i should be considered for the P seeing as how i completed everything necessary.

(2) What are you most proud of in your 2 hour presentation and why?
this is difficult for me because i am proud of everything ive done and had the oppotunity to share out my passion for this. I think i am proud of my first activity and that i was able to show people some exams they can do at home for their own pets (:

PART II: Overall Senior Project Experience

(3) What do you think you did well on in the project? What could you have done better? Please explain.
i think i did well overall and what i turned in was quality. the only thing i would have done better was to stay on top of due dates so that it wont pile up at one point

(4) What is your EQ and what is the best answer to your EQ?
"what is most important to consider when running a small animal veterinary practice?"
Best: The Quality of the Service Provided

(5) How has the last month of culminating events (e.g I-Search, Two-Hour, Exit etc) affected your answer to your EQ? Has it changed? Why or why not?
It didnt change it but more reenforced my answer and caused me to be more sure of it

(6) What suggestions do you have in order to improve the senior project?
Spread out due dates in the last month that was crazy and caused many sleepless nights

(7) Overall Senior Project Assessment

 AP +

Why?
i think i did well but i know i had my weak points in the year that caused me to not be in the range of a P

2 hr presentation rough draft

(1) What is your sponge activity?
what i have planned for my activity is something that requires team play so that the juniors and seniors have to wrok together to complete so this means that i will probably split the class in half for teams but make sure that there is atleast a close to 50-50 mix of students on each side. the game that im leaning to right now is charades. any game right now that involes teamwork is still a possiblility. the connection between this and my answer kind of relates because as part of the service you offer the animals dont know what you are trying to do and need to find a way to communitcate with the animals that you are trying to help them.

(2) What do you plan to do and say in the introduction?*
Personal Introduction: simple introduction about myself
EQ definition: state my eq and go into depth on what all of the terms of my eq are and how i came to want to answer this question
Plan: for my plan i think i will probably just make a slide and have my lesson plan there and quick breakdown of what today is going to consist of.

(3) What do you plan to say in your foundation?
for my foundation i am planning on talking about the history of the profession and career paths that you can take after graduation from the graduate program.

(4) What will your 2 or 3 answers be for your 2 hour? What activities will you do with each answer and why?
1). quality and effective service
activity: unsure of activity and need advice on this next advisory meeting
2). team of staff
activity: also need advice on this one
3). advertising
activity: a kind of business car making activity to see who would have a more successful practice

(5) How do you plan to conclude your 2 hour?*
Best answer: address why this is my best answer and a quick sumarization of what this answer means and why it is so important to my essential question

Sources: talk about my three best sources : Service learning, Merck Veterinary Manual, and interviews and go into what i did with each one of those and why they are even meaningful to my presentation

Product: explain what i learned from all of my research and what im going to take away from this experience. my answers right now are a focus on the career path that i need to take and a job oppurtunity once i am out of school.

(6) How do you plan to decorate the room?
i will put up some psoters of the anatomy of dogs and cats, pictures of animals being treated with veterinarians. models on different parts of anatomy could also come in handy

(7) What supplies/resources will you need to make your 2 hour possible?
posters, models of the anatomy, desks, projector, laptop, pictures

independent component 2

p_00030.jpg
Preparing surgical equipment to be put in autoclave to be sterilized

p_00033.jpg
pitbull puppy that had a urinary tract infection that was placed under my care and had to provied medicine for it

Literal

(a)I, Jose Rodriguez, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.

(b) i worked at Tender Loving Care Animal Hospital and i was pretty much an assistant there and was able to also do hands on work on basic things that need to be done around  the practice. the jobs that would be given to me would range from simple stuff like laundry and sweeping but also included many other jobs like preparing and sterilizing the equipment as well as preparing the animals for surgery and cleaning the area that the incision would be mad and also just monitoring the animals after the surgery was done to see if they responded after surgery.

Interpretive

it shows proof of 30 hours of work because everything that i learned isnt something that you could do in one day and you must know certain things in order to perform them. i also learned a new set of skills that i would be unable to learn any where else

Applied

This helped me answer my essential question because being able to work so closely with Dr. Casillas and all of the great surgical team on staff was a wonderful experience because they had confidence in me and allowed me to be able to get hands on experience working with the animals and kind of ginving me a preview on what to expect in school and working in an animal hospital. Also getting lots of advice from the doctor allowed me to always ask questions on why this happened and to gain a further understanding on somethings that werent very clear to me at first and offered great insight on lots idead that my answers are based on.

Independent Component 2

for my independent component i am going to continue to do service learning and keep a log of the 30 hrs that i complete while there.

Independent Component 1

Literal
a) I, Jose Rodriguez, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.

(b) I completed a log of community service that i did at TLC Animal Hospital

Interpretive

During my hours of community service i would perfrom numerous tasks that enable me to get an inside perspective on the inner workings of an animal hospital. During my time there i've learned how to sterilize surgical equipment, how to prep animals for certain surgeries, and just a few days ago i learned how to remove and iv line from a pet after surgery. ive also learned how to work the heart rate monitor used for surgeries and how to keep oxygen and heart rate in between normal levels.

Applied
This has helped me answer my eq in many ways by learning what was mentioned in the interpretive section it has allowed me to see everything that is required and that is a nessecity to run a practice. Also following the vet has allowed me to see the connections required to run it, the people that are need to make the practice possible and to keep it running
